10.            Occupation with Christ

A.            Definition:  Occupation with Christ is personal love for God the Son causing the believer to make truth and its application the number one priority in life.

B.      Documentation:  (Hebrews 12:2; 1 Peter 3:15)

• Hebrews 12:2 - Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. (KJV)

• 1 Peter 3:15 - But sanctify the Lord Christ in your hearts . . .(KJV) (this is a command to concentrate on Jesus)

C.            Problem solved:  Occupation with Christ solves life's problems associated with having the wrong number one priority while living the Christian way of life.

D.  How does occupation with Christ solve the priority problem in the Christian life?

1)      Occupation with Christ keeps the advancing believer's focus on Christ and His word so that life's problems caused by holding the wrong number one priority never becomes an issue.

2)      Some examples of things that get in the way of Christ and doctrine as a number one priority:

Eyes on self:      preoccupation with self

Eyes on others:      preoccupation with people

Eyes on things:      preoccupation with things
