 2.  Rebound

A.            Definition:  "Rebound" is the vocabulary term coined to designate the technique [ the "how to" ] of God's plan wherein God provides believers with forgiveness and cleansing from any type of personal sin after salvation.

B.      Documentation:  (1 John. 1:9)

• 1 John. 1:9 - If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (KJV)

C.            Problem solved:  Rebound provides the believer with immediate forgiveness and cleansing from personal sins committed while living the Christian way of life and forms the basis upon recovery from additional effects can be achieved.

Personal sins (examples)

• Mental: worry, envy, greed, hatred, anger, guilt-feelings, implacability, bitterness, self-pity, retaliation
• Verbal: gossip, maligning, criticism
• Overt: drunkenness, fornication, adultery, drug abuse

Effects of Personal Sins

• Unclean and unforgiven before God
• Grieves the Holy Spirit
• Under the curse of divine discipline
• No longer yielded to God the Holy Spirit
• No longer walking by means of the Spirit
• All good produced is human good

D.  How does the rebound technique solve the problem of the effects of personal sins committed while living the Christian way of life?

1)   The immediate effects:

a.   forgiveness and cleansing received

b.   no longer under the curse of discipline

2)      Rebound is the basis upon which the following can take place when the further necessary conditions have been met:

a.   Once again, yielded to God the Holy Spirit:  the condition - yieldedness to God the Holy Spirit.

b.   Once again, walking by means of the Spirit:  the condition - walking by means of the Spirit.

c.   Once again, the good that is produced is divine good:  the condition - gift function.
