Grace Christian Fellowship Banbridge

This is my local fellowship. We meet every Monday night at 8pm in David McBrides house. We have a time of praise and then sound doctrinal study. We are small in number, 10-12.Numbers are not the issue. Spiritual growth is the issue. Here we learn not only the "what to" but the "how to". If you would like to keep up to date with our studies and be added to our email list, send me your email address to : mark@markkwilliamson.com

Question for those who do not believe in "Eternal Security"

posted Wednesday, 31 January 2007
Question on eternal security and people who oppose it?

Some people believe that they can loose their salvation, either by some particular sin or by rejecting Christ and having nothing more to do with Him.My question for those who believe this is, what happens to the new spiritual species that God creates at the moment of spiritual birth, if you loose your salvation? Paul tell us that we are new creatures created in Him. 2 cor 5 v 17 says ,....he is a new creature... in romans 6 v 6 paul tells us that as far as God is concerned, the old man is crucified (dead) and we are to reckon the new man to be alive onto God.Paul clearly states in many passages the principle of old man/new man and the indwelling of the Trinity in the new man. Again the question, if the 2 verses are true (and they are) what happens to the new creature God creates if you believe that you can loose you salvation?

A reasonable question, and I certainly respect your right to hold and express your views! I hope that you will be equally open to my own observations... When a baby is first conceived, it is also a "new creation", but just as it is possible for there to be a physical miscarriage, there can also be a spiritual "miscarriage", better known as "apostasy" in the scripture. Our salvation is both received and maintained on the basis of FAITH. Faith is the umbilical cord by which we are connected to - and sealed in - Christ. But "faith without works" (obedience and action as described in Hebrews) is "DEAD" and believers who continue in such a state will ultimately be "assigned a place with unbelievers." Personally, I do not believe that signing up to run the race is the same thing as finishing the race and collecting your prize... (For more observations on this doctrine see: www.webspawner.com/users/eternalosas/index.html) God bless! Bryan
